Athlete Agents

Transient Merchants

A transient merchant includes every merchant, whether an individual person, a firm, corporation, partnership or association, and whether owner, agent, bailee, consignee or employee, who shall bring or cause to be brought within the state of Iowa any goods, wares or merchandise of any kind, nature or description, with the intention of temporarily or intermittently selling or offering to sell at retail such goods, wares or merchandise within the state of Iowa. A transient merchant includes every merchant, whether an individual person, a firm, corporation, partnership or association, who shall by itself, or by agent, consignee or employee temporarily or intermittently engage in or conduct at one or more locations a business within the state of Iowa for the sale at retail of any goods, wares or merchandise of any nature of description. Any transient merchant desiring a transient merchant’s license shall file with the Secretary of State a registration form. View a list of transient merchants that have registered with this office.

Credit Services Organizations

A credit services organization is a person who, with respect to the extension of credit by others and in return for the payment of money or other valuable consideration, provides, or represents that the person can or will provide, any of the following services: a. Improving a buyer's credit record, history, or rating; b. Providing advice or assistance to a buyer with regard to paragraph "a”. A credit services organization shall file a registration statement with the Secretary of State before conducting business in this state. An Unincorporated Nonprofit Association may file in the Office of the Secretary of State a statement appointing an agent authorized to receive service of process per Iowa Code chapter 501B.11. View the list of appointed agents that have been registered with this office.

Business Opportunity Promotions

A Seller promoting business opportunities per Iowa Code chapter 551A shall filed an irrevocable consent with the Secretary of State prior to executing a business opportunity contract or engaging in the sale of a business opportunity in Iowa. The irrevocable consent shall appoint the Secretary of State to be the Seller’s attorney to receive service of lawful process per Iowa Code chapter 551A.7.
