Secretary of State Announces Availability of Voter Registration Lists

(DES MOINES) – Secretary of State Matt Schultz announced today that the 2012 Voter Registration Lists are now available. Iowa has had significant changes due to the federal redistricting and reprecincting based on the 2010 census changes.

Requests for voter registration lists can be made with the Secretary of State's office or with a county auditor. Statewide and Congressional District lists must be produced by the Secretary of State's office. Counties may only produce lists for districts of which their county is a part.

Information from voter registration lists can be used for genuine political purpose, for political research, or for official purpose by an election official. Information from a voter registration list cannot be used for any commercial purpose. Social security numbers, driver license numbers, and non-operator ID numbers are not included in any list.

The cost to obtain a voter registration list will depend on the type of list ordered. Pricing information is available at www.sos.iowa.gov or by calling 515-281-8849 at the Secretary of State's office.
