Secretary of State Matt Schultz Commends Deputy Secretary of State Mary Mosiman on her appointment as State Auditor
Des Moines—Today, Governor Terry Branstad appointed Deputy Secretary of State, Mary Mosiman, as Auditor of the State of Iowa, replacing David Vaudt, who resigned effective May 3 to become Chairman of the Governmental Accountability Standards Board.
Mary Mosiman was Story County Auditor when she joined Secretary of State Matt Schultz’s new administration in January, 2011. As Deputy Secretary of State, Mosiman has worked with county auditors throughout the state, led certification trainings, presented at naturalization ceremonies, and managed departments of the state agency.
“Governor Branstad has made an excellent choice in Mary Mosiman to succeed David Vaudt as State Auditor. Mary Mosiman, like her predecessor, is a CPA. She is also an experienced county auditor and served most recently as my Deputy in the Secretary of State’s office. Auditor Vaudt certainly leaves big shoes to fill, but I know that Mary Mosiman is the right person to meet and exceed the high standards he has established during his decade of service to the citizens of the State of Iowa. I am proud to have worked with Mary, and wish her the best as she moves on to become Iowa’s next State Auditor.”
