Melbourne Man Sentenced in Voter Fraud Case

Des Moines – Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz announced that a Melbourne man was sentenced in a Marshall County voter fraud case earlier this week.

Nickie Dean Perkins pled guilty to Election Misconduct in the 1st degree on August 1, 2013 and was sentenced to a five year suspended sentence and 2 years probation on October 8, 2013. Perkins is a felon and registered to vote and voted in the 2012 general election.

"I want to thank County Attorney Miller for taking election integrity seriously," Schultz said. "Miller and DCI should be commended for their hard work."

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) referred the case to Marshall County Attorney Jennifer Miller who filed the election misconduct charges.
