Several of Tuesday's School Special Elections Delayed Due to Wintery Weather Forecast


DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, in conjunction with county auditors, announces an emergency declaration to delay Tuesday's school and merged area special elections, in some counties, from 7 am until noon due to the threat of severe wintery weather.

Polls will open at 12 pm Tuesday, instead of 7 am, in the following counties. They will close at 8 pm:

Bremer
Buena Vista
Clay
Dallas
Dickinson
Emmet
Hancock
Humboldt
Kossuth
Linn
Madison
O'Brien
Osceola
Palo Alto
Pocahontas
Story
Winnebago

The Secretary of State's Office will remain in contact with the Iowa Department of Transportation and the National Weather Service to determine if further action is necessary.
