State House District 33 - 10/22/2013 Special Election

On Friday, August 9, Governor Branstad called for a special election for State House District 33 due to the resignation of Representative Kevin McCarthy. State House District includes part of the city of Des Moines. A map of the district is available on the Legislature's website.

Absentee ballots must be postmarked by this date and received by the time of the county canvass on Thursday, October 24, to be considered on time to be counted.
Tuesday, October 22 Election Day
Polls open 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Thursday, October 24 Deadline for absentee ballot to be returned. Ballots must be received by the time established for the canvass by the county boards of supervisors.

Absentee ballot must also be postmarked on Monday, October 21, or earlier

County canvass of votes must occur no earlier than 1 p.m.
Early November State canvass of votes must be complete
