Secretary Matt Schultz introduces "Iowa start a business month" bill
(DES MOINES) – Today, Secretary Matt Schultz introduced legislation that creates an "Iowa start a business month". As part of "Iowa start a business month" the Secretary of State would be able to reduce or waive any fees required to organize an Iowa start-up business in the state of Iowa.
"Small businesses are faced with many expenses at the time of start-up. The creation of the actual business entity is among those expenses. Many Iowans proceed with starting their business without creating a distinct business entity due to the cost. Unfortunately, this leaves Iowa entrepreneurs without the organization and financial protections provided by organizing as a business entity under Iowa law," said Secretary Schultz.
"Approximately one half of workers in the United States are employed by small businesses. If Iowa is to increase employment opportunities, we must remove barriers to entrepreneurship, business start-up and job creation."
