The Catt Collegiate Challenge is a statewide initiative empowering Iowa’s postsecondary institution to integrate civic learning and voter engagement into the core of campus life. Through access to specialized resources, actionable data, and a collaborative statewide network, the Challenge supports campuses in equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to become active participants in our democracy.

Institutions that demonstrate outstanding commitment to voter registration, voter education, and student turnout will be formally recognized by the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office for their leadership in advancing civic engagement across the state.

Participating campuses compete to achieve the highest student voter turnout in every statewide election. Their progress leading up to the annual Voter Engagement Summit, where institutions share best practices, participate in breakout sessions, and explore effective strategies to increase voter registration and turnout within their campus communities.
