DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will visit Saydel High School on Tuesday morning to help students register to vote and discuss the importance of civic engagement. Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day.

Sec. Pate’s visit is part of his new initiative to register high school students to vote and encourage schools to compete for the Carrie Chapman Catt Award. Schools that register at least 90% of eligible students will receive the award. 17-year-olds are now eligible to register to vote in Iowa.

Pate will speak to approximately 100 students inside the school’s auditorium.
