Secretary Pate appoints Ken Kline as Iowa's Deputy Commissioner of Elections

DES MOINES – Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the hiring of Ken Kline to serve as Iowa's Deputy Commissioner of Elections. Kline has served as auditor for Cerro Gordo County for more than 25 years. He is a past president of the Iowa State Association of County Auditors, creator of the national award-winning Precinct Atlas electronic poll book program, and served for many years as a legislative liaison for county auditors.

"I am very pleased Ken will be joining our team as we head into the 2018 election season," Secretary Pate said. "Ken's experience, ingenuity and dedication will be a welcome addition to the staff. He has served the people of Iowa very capably for more than a quarter of a century and is well regarded by election officials across the state and country."

"It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve the voters of Iowa, to join the excellent staff in Secretary Pate's office, and to work with all 99 county auditors in implementing clean, fair elections across the state," Kline said.

Kline will begin his new role in the Iowa Secretary of State's Office on January 22. He replaces Carol Olson, who will become state director for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley.
