DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has announced the candidates' filing deadline and calendar for the House District 21 special election. Governor Terry Branstad set the special election for Tuesday, December 8. The deadline for candidates to file is Friday, November 13 at 5 pm.

The House District 21 seat became vacant due to the passing of longtime State Rep. Jack Drake. The district includes Adams County, Union County, and portions of Cass and Pottawattamie counties.

The entire Special Election Calendar and Candidates Guide will be available on the Secretary of State's website, www.sos.iowa.gov/elections/candidates, by Monday.
