The Secretary of State's Office requested videos from each presidential hopeful with the candidates tailoring their message specifically toward Iowa high school students. The videos will be posted on the "Caucus 101" website over the next two weeks.

"My thanks to the presidential campaigns that have responded and addressed their messages directly toward Iowa high school students," said Secretary of State Paul Pate. "I wanted to make this curriculum fun and easily accessible for students and teachers. Increasing participation in Iowa's elections is one of my main goals as Secretary of State. One way to accomplish that is by getting young people interested in the process."

"Caucus 101" is a curriculum developed by Secretary of State Paul Pate, designed for Iowa high school students. The course is aimed at involving students, parents and the community in civic engagement while educating them about Iowa's unique role in the political process.

The curriculum, written by Iowa teachers for Iowa teachers, is available for anyone to use and can be downloaded at www.Caucus101.com. This non-partisan, seven-step course has the approval of the Iowa Democratic Party, the Republican Party of Iowa and the Iowa Council for the Social Studies.
