DES MOINES - Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate was honored by Google for his efforts at improving elections through open data. The award recognized Iowa’s contributions to the Voting Information Project and was presented to Secretary Pate on Thursday during the National Association of Secretaries of State 2015 Summer Conference in Portland, Maine.

"I am honored that we have been recognized for our voter participation and outreach programs like online voter registration, Safe at Home, Caucus 101 and Honor a Veteran with Your Vote. As Iowa's Secretary of State I will continue to set an example for the rest of the nation through service, participation and integrity," Secretary Pate said.
