DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces Fast Track Filing is now available for businesses wanting to change the registered agent on their filings with the state. Every business that registers with the State of Iowa is required to name a registered agent. The process to change the agent previously took as long as three weeks. It can now be done in less than 10 minutes.
There are more than 220,000 active business entities that are registered with the Iowa Secretary of State's Office. Each has its own registered agent. Nearly 1,000 businesses changed their registered agent in the past month.
"Fast Track Filing has allowed us to provide Iowa's business community the service it deserves,” Secretary Pate said. "This system saves time for businesses. It saves time for my staff and frees them up to offer better service. It also saves money for Iowa taxpayers. This is a win for everyone.”
Secretary Pate launched Fast Track Filing for new businesses in June. Since that time, thousands of entities have utilized the system. Entrepreneurs have been able to register their new businesses with the state in less than 10 minutes. Secretary Pate's Office has processed a record high of new business filings each of the past three years, with 23,649 new businesses launching during Fiscal Year 2018.
Fast Track Filing will eventually be available for all types of business filings with the Iowa Secretary of State's Office. To utilize the Fast Track Filing system, businesses can click here or email ftf@sos.iowa.gov for more information.
