DES MOINES – The State Objection Panel, which is comprised of Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller and Auditor of State Rob Sand, met Tuesday to consider nine objections filed against primary election candidates. The panel heard arguments from the challengers and the candidates or their representatives.

Below is how panel ruled on each challenge.

  • Craig Clark – State House District 52 (objection dismissed)
  • Charlotte Dunnett – State House District 23 (objection dismissed)
  • Jordan Omstead – State House District 27 (objection upheld, candidate will be removed from ballot)
  • Steven Everly – United States Congressional District 2 (objection dismissed)
  • Rita Hart – United States Congressional District 2 (objection withdrawn prior to meeting)
  • Randy Feenstra – United States Congressional District 4 (objection dismissed)
  • Steve King – United States Congressional District 4 (objection dismissed)
  • Bret Richards – United States Congressional District 4 (objection dismissed)
  • Jeremy Taylor – United States Congressional District 4 (objection dismissed)

The meeting originated from the Iowa Secretary of State’s Lucas Building Office and was conducted via conference call due to COVID-19 concerns about gatherings of 10 or more people.
