Early Voting Deadlines Near for June 7 Primary

DES MOINES - Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate reminds Iowa voters they can still cast an early ballot for Tuesday’s’ Primary Election in their county auditor’s office through Monday, June 6. All 99 county auditors’ offices will be open for absentee voting on Saturday, June 4, for at least 8 hours. Registered voters who have already requested, but not yet returned their absentee ballot, can hand deliver that ballot to the auditor’s office before the polls close on Tuesday.

Voters can also place their absentee ballot in the mail. The ballot must be postmarked no later than Monday, June 6, in order to be considered on time.

“I encourage Iowans to take advantage of this opportunity to vote in the auditor’s office if they are not sure they can make it to the polls on Tuesday," said Secretary Pate. “If voters put their absentee ballots in the mail this close to the election, there is a risk that it might not arrive in time to be counted.” On Tuesday, all polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
