Secretary of State’s "Caucus 101" Website Earns International Award

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is pleased to announce his "Caucus 101" website earned a Silver award at the 14th Annual Horizon Interactive Awards Competition. The award was in the Website Redesign & Development category for Government Agencies. Webspec Design, an Urbandale web and software development company based in Urbandale, Iowa submitted the www.Caucus101.com website for the award.

"I am very pleased our efforts with Caucus 101 were recognized," Secretary of State Paul Pate said. "We put a lot of hard work into delivering a curriculum for Iowa students to engage them in the civics process. Congratulations to Webspec Design. They did a terrific job designing the website and are very deserving of this award."

"We’re honored to have our clients’ websites chosen among those that are the best in the world," said Webspec Design owner and founder Jeremiah Terhark. "The team enjoys working with our clients to help them develop a website that serves their goals, and it’s amazing to have those projects noted on an international scale."

Written by Iowa teachers for Iowa classrooms, "Caucus 101" is a unique curriculum aimed at involving students, parents and the community in civic engagement while educating them about Iowa’s unique role in the political process. This non-partisan, seven-step course has the approval of the Iowa Democratic Party, the Republican Party of Iowa and social studies teachers across the state.

The 14th Annual Horizon Interactive Awards are among the most prestigious awards in the world in the field of interactive and creative media. This year’s competition saw over 1,100 entries from 21 different countries. Entries were reviewed by an international panel of judges made up of industry professionals.
