Secretary Pate appoints Jasper County Auditor Dennis Parrott to national board
DES MOINES ā Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the appointment of Jasper County Auditor Dennis Parrott to the federal U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) Standards Board. Parrott will serve a two-year term. The board is comprised of one statewide and one local elections official from each state.
"Dennis Parrott has served Jasper County and the voters of Iowa very capably for many years and Iām confident he will do a great job representing the state on the EAC Standards Board," Secretary Pate said. "My office partners with all 99 county auditors to conduct clean and fair elections in the state in non-partisan manner and Dennis exemplifies that partnership."
The EAC Board approves the standards for voting systems utilized throughout the country. Additionally, the board works with U.S. Postal Service on election mail procedures and coordinates with various agencies on elections processes and programs. They also collaborate with the Federal Voting Assistance Program for military and overseas voters.
"The work of the Election Assistance Commission Standards Board is extremely important to all who conduct elections, given the vigorous renewal of claims of election fraud in the 2016 presidential election," Auditor Parrott said. "I offer my thanks to Secretary of State Paul Pate for appointing me to the Commission and I was proud to serve Iowa at the latest Commission meeting."
Parrott, a Democrat, is currently serving his fourth term as Jasper County Auditor. He represented Iowa at the EAC Standards Board meetings in San Antonio in last week.
