Secretary Pate teams up with Iowa League of Heroes for "Be A Voter" campaign, voter registration drive at Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate and the Iowa League of Heroes announce an exciting new partnership to promote voter registration and civic engagement in the state. "Be A Voter" trading cards, featuring the Iowa League of Heroes at the State Capitol, are being produced by Secretary Pate's office. The cards will be available for free at the Secretary of State's booth, inside the Varied Industries Building, throughout the Iowa State Fair. There are nine different cards available, with one card being issued each day.

Additionally, Secretary Pate's office and five members of the Iowa League of Heroes will conduct a voter registration drive at the Secretary of State's fair booth on Sunday, August 13, from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to visit the booth, collect a "Be a Voter" card, take pictures, and visit with the heroes.

"I want every eligible Iowan to register to vote and participate in our elections, and this is a fun way to encourage both," Secretary Pate said. "Superhero movies are among the most popular ones in the country, so this is a great way for Iowans to meet their favorite superheroes in person, while making sure they are registered to vote and their voter information is up-to-date."

The Iowa League of Heroes is a group dedicated to helping others and making a difference in the community. They make hospital visits to children, and appear at charity events, fundraisers, and civic-minded causes. The League strives to bring happiness and excitement to children of all ages through real encounters with the heroes.

"This group does amazing work in Iowa and I'm very grateful they've dedicated themselves to this project," Secretary Pate said. "Voting is one of our most important civic duties and this is a good way to remind Iowans of that fact."
