MEDIA RELEASE: Secretary Pate honors Kyle Phillips with NASS Medallion Award

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate presented a National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Medallion award to Kyle Phillips, former Chief Information Officer (CIO) with the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office. The award is in recognition for his leadership overseeing the rollout of Fast Track Filing and his 22 years of service to the citizens of the State of Iowa. Kyle recently began to transition into a new role with the state OCIO.

During Phillips’ tenure as CIO, he oversaw the strategic planning and implementation of Fast Track Filing. The initiative was responsible for allowing anyone to submit filings online 24/7, avoiding the need to drive to Des Moines or hire a courier to file paperwork with the Secretary of State. Since the beginning of Fast Track Filing in 2018, there have been more than 595,000 submissions into the system.

“Kyle Phillips has made a large impact on the services my office provides to the citizens of Iowa,” Secretary Pate said during a presentation ceremony. “Kyle’s leadership and dedication has been appreciated and will be missed as he transitions into his next role.”

The NASS Medallion Award was created to honor individuals, groups or organizations with an established record of promoting the goals of NASS in the areas of elections, civic education, service to state government, and a commitment to giving. It is one of the highest honors a Secretary of State can bestow.

"It is a tremendous honor to be recognized for this award and I thank Secretary Pate for the opportunity to lead this initiative," said Phillips. "I could not have achieved success without an outstanding team to support me."
